HAGERSTOWN, MD – Get ready to turn back the clock and spend a fun-filled weekend bidding, buying and socializing the way we used to do it in the 1980s and ’90s. Old Town Auctions is planning a terrific event on June 11-12 built around the sale of more than 1,000 antique and collectible toys, antique advertising and country store items, and funky “techno” and folk art.
Additionally, Old Town’s owner, Matt Protos, is encouraging collectors to trade from their hotel rooms or vehicles, if desired, and to take advantage of the auction as “an excuse to socialize.”
The auction will be held at the comfortable Grand Venice Hotel in Hagerstown, Md., which is convenient to I-70 and I-81 travelers.
To reward those who make the effort to attend in person, in addition to a discounted buyer’s premium, Protos is organizing an uncataloged section of goodies to be offered before the cataloged portion of the event, which is billed as Old Town’s Spring Treasure Hunt.
“Some excellent pieces will be waiting to be discovered in the uncataloged offering, which will not be available for any type of absentee or phone bidding. It will definitely be worth it to come to the auction, if for no other reason to bid on the uncataloged portions,” Protos said. “There are some really fabulous things that we know will be arriving too late for the cataloged section of the sale.”
