ONE OF THE OLDEST continuously running toy shows in the Country, The Boston Toy Show enters its 29th year under new ownership. The show will be held
Sunday, December 9th at The Holiday Inn, Dedham, MA.
New owners, Michael J. Melito and Wes Pettengill bring much experience to their new positions. Michael, of Wakefield, MA, first started collecting in the field of vintage jazz records in his pre-teen years! The pace picked up quickly in the late 1980s as Mike was buying at local shops, shows and via mail order. Melito was also gaining valuable business experience in a family owned restaurant while at the same time first exhibiting at collectable toy shows in late 1989. He has never looked back. Today Michael Melito has broadened his knowledge to high end antiques, pop culture and a wider range of toys.
Co-Owner Wes Pettengill of Salisbury, MA, got his start in the hobby by attending an all toy auction in 1976. Held just 4 doors from his childhood home, Wes was one of just 5 bidders vying for hundreds of lots from a closed toy & hobby shop. Pettengill admits to very little knowledge early on, but the $65 in his pocket filled the back of his pickup in his first venture.
