LOVELAND COLORADO — Lions Club President John Lerew presents the Colorado Lions Foundation Humanitarian award to Delano Lion Timber Dan (aka Dale Vander Linden) at a ceremony in Loveland Colorado on February 20, 2013.
Timber Dan started the Timber Dan Antique and Collectible show in 1985 in Colorado. In 1987 he joined forces with the Loveland Lions Club on the current show which runs on the last Saturday of February and the first Saturday of October. The show which has generated nearly $175,000 during this period for Loveland Lions projects that include almost 200 pair of eye glasses a year for the needy in the Loveland area.
The show, which also supports other community projects plus aid to the hearing impaired, was turned over completely to the Lions in 2011.
The Humanitarian award is the highest award a Colorado Lions Club can give for a non-member of their club.
Timber Dan was a Lion in Colorado, where he lived for most of the 80s and had remained as the shows promoter since returning to Delano in 1992. He is a 42 year member of Lions. He also has recieved the Melvin Jones Fellowship award for humanitarian services to the Lions Club International Foundation.
