Printed on the box lid beneath the logo for the Reynolds Metals Company is the statement: “The men at
Reynolds: helping put new ideas on the road.” Just above the Mesa Sand (butterscotch) colored Chevrolet Vega
plastic promotional inside, Reynolds embelished the previous statement with: “The Automobile Engine of the
70’s: The first all-aluminum engine block makes its debut in General Motors new Vega 2300. The men at
Reynolds helped put it there.” One cannot fault those statements unless, of course, there were some female
employees at Reynolds at the time.
