Focal Point: Convertible with Driver, Occupied Japan, Circa 1948

Small tin wind-up sedans, most seemingly representing Chevrolets or Pontiacs, are fairly common. Most are marked “OCCUPIED JAPAN” indicating an issue date prior to September 8, 1951 – the date that the occupation was terminated. The tin sedans are generally 3 to 4-inch vehicles and are fairly common even in mint/boxed condition. Not so this pictured convertible of the same era.
