IF THESE toys airplanes today don’t look antique, it’s not because they aren’t. They’re all from the ’40s-’50s production, but in point of fact, our real aircraft, now almost entirely jet propelled, look just about the same.
Actually, they are pretty much alike. The shells are as streamlined as they need to be for least wind resistance in our current passenger planes, so, along with a somewhat shorter wing length, this is the state of the art until we can adapt our spacecraft to more frequent take-offs and landings.
