THIS SPRING, POOK & POOK, INC. teamed up with Noel Barrett for another collaborative auction and despite day two falling on April 1st, there was nothing foolish about these sales. Day one, on March 31st, and day two brought a combined realized total of $833,262 and kept crowds in their seats long into the afternoon each day.
Noel Barrett wrote that the important collections in this auction were two of the first he had been entrusted with by collectors whom he did have a chance to know personally. His unfamiliarity was quickly remedied, though, by working with the collections, both of which spoke to their owner’s interests, styles, and carefully-chosen acquisitions.
Bidders were treated first to the acclaimed steam engine collection of Eberhard Luethke. Impressive for its breath and quality, the collection boasted items such as lot 66, a finely crafted live steam train locomotive which was Mr. Luethke’s favorite.
