Dinky Toys Modelled Miniatures

The cars initially named Meccano-made Dinky toys came out in 1933 during the Christmas period. All these toy autos were made at the well-known Binns Road factory in Liverpool, England. The models were the commercial response to the American Tootsie Toy models range.

Frank Hornby created the rival factory to produce toy autos in the same way as his famous Hornby Meccano trains manufacture. By the mid-1930s, Dinky Toys diecast vehicles were the leader in the field. Every boy whose childhood occurred in the thirties must have played with the Dinky Toys. Motor cars and trucks are springing to everybody’s mind, but the numerous catalogues included ships, aircraft, road signs, and road-making equipment. The pre-war range is now very rare and the models are avidly collected worldwide
