Focal Point: #509 Custom Sports Car • Hubley – 1955
By Steve Butler
CUSTOM SPORTS Car? Hubley should have called it a Corvette. A proper identification may have greatly improved sales.
The car is a decent and readily identifiable rendition of a 1953-55 Corvette. Underneath the hood is a representation of an in-line six-cylinder motor having triple carburetors. That’s correct. A spare tire and wheel plus a hubcap are located
in the trunk. These seem unusual because a spare is seldom seen except for the “fix-it” type of toy vehicles which would also include a jack and some tools.
