AFTER ARRIVING at a purchase price for the described pair of pressed steel trucks described previously in this magazine, consideration of the third purchase ensued. That toy is the pictured red Wyandotte coupe, a 4.2-inch red car with white wooden wheels. Attached to the roof is a large two-sided sign promoting Sophie Tucker’s radio shows and Roi-Tan cigars. The sign was also promoting a contest: “An auto a day is given away” and “A BRAND NEW 1939
CHEVROLET” (a 2-door sedan). The number of days and the number of Chevys were not specified.

This toy with its sign is quite appealing but not necessarily as “rare” as often touted by sellers. However, this exam-
ple is perfect, not one tiny imperfection or indication of use or ageing. Better yet, accompanying the toy is an excel-
lent original envelope to be used for submitting an entry for the contest. Thereon the entrant was to specify why he (or she) smokes Roi-Tan cigars. Also printed on the envelope is an illustration of a 1939 Chevrolet two-door sedan. Too bad the Wyandotte looks nothing like the Chevy.
