MOST PEOPLE, WHO have even heard of Andre Citroen, assume he had something to do with the French car company, which in fact he started in 1919, and built into the world’s 4th largest automaker during the 1920s.

Only Ford, GM, and Chrysler were bigger. Though he was born in France, he came from a Dutch, Jewish family who had been fruit merchants in Holland, hence the name Citroen, which means lemon.’
