In 1927, the Metalcraft Corporation of St.JE was positioned in just the right place to take off on the tail of one of the most historic events in the history of aviation Charles Lindbergh’s solo flight across the Atlantic from New York to Paris, France, May 20, 1927. The Metal craft Corporation quickly acquired patents and whatever other rights that were needed to make a Lindbergh toy airplane construction set. According to an article in the Scientific American, three of Lindbergh’s backers from his original flight helped financially in the toys development.
