Marklin Quality at Less than a Marklin Price

LIKE MOST COLLECTORS of early tin toys, I feel that Marklin’s reputation for quality and desirability is well deserved. The only thing I frequently don’t like about Marklin toys is the price.

I was living in Boston in 1968, where I bought my first old toy. Friends took me to their favorite outdoor antique market where I noticed several vendors selling toys. A single dollar bill bought me a white pressed steel Wyandotte ambulance, and suddenly I became a toy collector. Transportation toys appealed then, and still do.
