WITH A FEW DOLLARS tagged as available, it seemed a good opportunity to seek one or two or more decent vintage toy vehicles for the collection. Decent actually refers to condition and the higher the better and being 100% complete and original. Vintage refers to age and almost always means nothing more recent than 1970. No material (e.g plastic, white metal, cast iron, cardboard, wood, steel, etc.) limitations would be imposed.

The problem was where to shop. Within reasonable driving distances that weekend there were two very good toy auctions, a train show, two toy shows, plus numerous open antique malls. All were possibilities. Many years ago an established toy collector’s suggestion or advice had been to “sometimes shop where others don’t.” It never seemed like especially good advice. Nevertheless the choice was made to head for an area not especially known for vintage toy finds and there to a toy show also not known for vintage toy offerings.
