“THE FABULOUS HUDSON HORNET” generally refers to one of three race cars. Two were driven by Marshall Teague and Herb Thomas in the early 1950’s in NASCAR races and the third was Doc Hudson of cartoon movie fame. The 1955 Hudson Hornet presented herein is not fabulous for racing feats.

Rather, it is a fabulous toy if one collects promotional cars (a.k.a. dealer promotionals or promos) mostly because most such collectors do not have one.

The demise of Hudson automobiles began in 1954 when Hudson Motor Car Company merged with Nash-Kelvinator Corporation creating the American Motors Corporation (AMC). For the 1955 model year AMC began the manufacture of a four-door sedan and a two-door hardtop each called “Hudson Hornets”.
