ART SELLS. Art sells better than 1000 words. Better than a photograph. A skilled and creative artist can use artistic license to emphasize color, drama, action and focus the viewer’s attention on the subject while downplaying anything that is distracting.
Art had been used to promote the sales of products and services long before there was photography. Before there was photography, art illustrations were the only option for visual impact.
With the advent of chromolithography in the late 1800s, artwork could be economically reproduced in mass quantities.
