The Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circus Collection of Keith Kaonis will be Auctioned at Theriault’s Marquis Event on July 31, 2023
ON A COLD FEBRUARY day in 1902, Fritz Meinecke briskly walked into the Philadelphia office of Albert Schoenhut and plunked a wooden toy clown or animal onto Albert’s desk. We don’t know the actual conversation that took place, but it probably went something like this.
Meinecke: “I invented this wooden toy. It has so many possibilities for posing. And I have a patent on it. Would you like to buy the patent?”
